Now that your manuscript is in ship-shape, you’ll need to format it for publishing.
If you are only putting it up on Kindle and are strapped for cash, you can use an online converter to convert your word document into a MOBI file. Reedsy also has a formatting tool that you upload yourself.
However, any errors in formatting can ruin your book and give you away as a self-published author so I would recommend getting some outside help. You will also want help converting to electronic publishing files (Mobi, epub, etc.) and especially for print.
Also, if your book has any formatting errors the printing services will reject your book. They have actual humans looking over each submission.
I used Ebooklaunch. Please note that I am not in cahoots with them or will make any money for referrals. I am happy with the service they provided, along with what they charged, and would recommend them.
They charge different amounts depending on word count and if your book has special characters or illustrations. They can format for print PDF, along with different ebook formats – MOBI and EPUB.
I always planned on putting my novel in print and I just got my book formatted in all the formats just in case I needed them.
I wouldn’t change a thing about this decision if I could go back in time.
